Korean Alumni Association Presents NYU with $10,000 Gift

Last June, J. David Slocum, associate dean of academic and student life at NYU’s Graduate School of Arts and Science, represented the University at a reception held by the NYU Korean Alumni Association in Seoul. During the reception, the group reconfirmed their pledge commitment to NYU made in 2004 to give $10,000 a year for five years to the President’s Undesignated Fund, which is used for discretionary spending needs at the University level.

The reception was hosted by Dae-Whan Chang (STERN ’85, ’87), chairman and publisher of the Maeil Business Newspaper, and organized by Chan M. Chyun (STERN ’94), the Secretary General of the association. “I was touched by and very grateful for the warm welcome extended to me by the Korean Alumni Association,” says Dean Slocum. “Their continuing commitment to NYU, as individuals and as a group, is inspiring and for me represents the best of what it means to be a global university.”

The Korean Alumni Association represents over 1,000 active NYU alumni who currently reside in Korea, and provides various opportunities for alumni in the area to stay connected with their peers and the University community. To get involved, email nyuadmin@nyukorea.com.
